Michelle Malkin On Colorado Springs: Freedom Of Assembly Under Fire and also, by Peter Brimelow, Courtroom Crusades: VDARE.com’s Fight For Free Speech In CO Springs—An Update, and support VDARE.com's Legal Defense Fund

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO.—In June, America’s mass media propaganda machine endangered the public by spreading insidious “disinformation” — while purporting to debunk “disinformation.”

The New York Times, NBC News, CNN and the Associated Press converged nine weeks ago to persuade readers and viewers that neither antifa rioters nor Black Lives Matter militants were fanning out from major urban areas into flyover country. Law enforcement bulletins and citizen alerts about the metastasis of violent demonstrations all amount to “misinformation,” “bad information,” “false information,” “unfounded rumors” and “conspiratorial content,” the Gray Lady scoffed.

NBC News and CNN exploited a single fake antifa Twitter account to dismiss nationwide concerns of domestic terrorism as “viral misinformation.”

The AP blasted “baseless theories” about encroaching violence and castigated “conservative news outlets and pro-Trump social media accounts” for reporting on them.

In short: Don’t worry. Be happy. Blame Righty.

The “progressive” Anti-Defamation League—headed by Jonathan Greenblatt, a Clinton/Obama official and former George Soros-funded operative — amplified the fraudulent media campaign. “There has been no evidence of antifa or Black Lives Matter organizing or carrying out attacks on suburban or white communities,” the ADL declared, and the “large-scale protests following the murder of George Floyd” were “overwhelmingly peaceful.”

Fact check: ADL = All Damned Lies. AP = Anarchist Propaganda. CNN = Chaos-Nurturing Network.

Here are the New York Times’ graphs of the seven days moving average of new coronavirus cases and deaths. Because the lines represent the average of the last 7 days, they lag about 3.5 days behind the latest day. The official case count seven day trailing average plateaued from about July 18-25 and has been falling since. Deaths kept rising until a few days ago, but the last few days have been p...

A real estate developer in ultra-expensive Berkeley wants to tear down an old, rather ramshackle house to put 10 units on its big lot. Here’s the 73 page historical preservation report on the house, a report that probably cost more than a small house in Oklahoma. And here’s the street view showing there is already 3-story apartment complex right across the street. Not surprisingly, the ultra-progre...

Leftist women seem to be emerging as the “New Church Ladies”, as Jim Goad has called them. In an extraordinary expose, American Conservative columnist Rod Dreher recently reported that even Democrat operatives worry privately that “hard left women” incensed by Hillary Clinton’s defeat have “completely taken over the middle management of the party” and are “allowing their rage to guide them,” for example forcing the firing of a young data analyst, David Shor, simply for reporting evidence that the Martin Luther King riots damaged Democrats in the 1968 election [Big Sister is Watching You, June 24, 2020]. And watched any of the coverage of Black Lives Matter riots will be struck by one unavoidable question: Why are so many of the participants women—especially young women?

I reported a while ago on the evidence that more than 50% of young, extremely liberal females have been diagnosed with depression. There is also evidence that females are far more socially conformist than males. But according to a new study, published by the National Policy Institute, these are but two of a whole of host of factors which help to explain why such a large percentage of BLM protestors are young women.

The study—entitled “The Next Great Awakening” [June 27, 2020] and researched by independent academic Edward Dutton—argues that BLM should be understood as a kind of “religious revival.” It notes that it has all of the central components of traditional Christianity (dogmas, group-orientation, despising the outgroup, even over-detecting agency—evil racists though, rather than God’s presence) except metaphysical belief.

GOP lawmakers did a better job of grilling the Titans of Big Tech on their anti-conservative censorship, alliance with the radical Left, and far-reaching power to control information at the House hearing last week [Republicans and Democrats Find a Point of Agreement: Big Tech Is Too Powerful, by Christopher Mims, The Wall Street Journal, July 29, 2020]. But despite the improvement over the old, tech-worshipping GOP, nothing is actually being done about the problem for two reasons: Democrats are on the other side, and Conservatism, Inc., is fully committed to libertarian “no government intervention” dogma--partly because of Big Tech. donations. Only Donald Trump’s winning on November 3 offers any hope of permanent change.

The Big Four were Apple’s Tim Cook, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Google’s Sundar Pichai, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. “Big Tech is out to get conservatives,” Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan began. “That’s not a hunch, that’s not a suspicion, that’s a fact.” Jordan zinged Google for suppressing conservative sites and videos, bashed Amazon for banning conservative books, and spanked all of the tech giants for cuddling up to China.

Florida Rep. Greg Steube asked Pichai why Google hid conservative websites and videos. The Indian-immigrant Google exec burbled a vague answer [Republicans Use Tech Antitrust Hearing To Rail Against ‘Anti-Conservative Bias’, by Rachel Sandler, Forbes, July 29, 2020].

But Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz was the star of the show. Why, he asked, does Google provide key technology to the Chinese military when it refuses to aid our own [Gaetz hammers Google for support of Chinese military despite 'ethical concerns' over helping US forces, by Caitlin McFall, Fox News, July 29, 2020]. Gaetz grilled Bezos about hiring the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center to decide which nonprofits that receive money via Amazon’s Smile donation program (e.g. VDARE.com is banned). “I’m just wondering why you would place your confidence in a group that seems to be so out of step and seems to take mainstream Christian doctrine and label it as hate?” he asked.

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

This was the nightmare of Ben Franklin.

Yet, with passage this spring of a $4 trillion bailout of an economy facing historic losses because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Nancy Pelosi's House having voted out another $3 trillion, we may have reached Franklin's peril point.

Indeed, if Democrats capture the Senate and win the White House, as many polls now project, it is not easy to see who or what prevents an uncontrolled explosion of fresh spending and a concomitant expansion of federal power.

Consider. In his eulogy to John Lewis at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Barack Obama called on Democrats, if victorious in November, to kill the Senate filibuster, all but calling the filibuster an instrument of systemic racism.

Earlier: Trump's Defense Of The Suburbs Against Obama-Legacy Social Engineering Is TERRIFYING To Democrat-MSM Complex

[Clip:  Pete Seeger, "Little Boxes."]

Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes
Little boxes
Little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

That was old-style Lefty Pete Seeger mocking the suburbs back in 1963. The suburbs, according to the songwriter (Malvina Reynolds, another old-style Lefty), were just breeding farms for the bourgeoisie, a wasteland of conformist middle-class values: doctors, lawyers, golfers, and—oh my God!—nuclear families, who drank their martinis dry and sent their kids to summer camp.

Pete's recording of the song was a big hit. There was a market for mocking the suburbs in the sixties: not just songs, but movies like The Graduate and novels like those of Updike and Cheever. The Boomers were looking for something more exciting, more spiritual, more life-affirming that the routine drudgery of middle-class life.

This being America, there was of course a race element to anti-suburbanism. The people in those little boxes Pete Seeger was sneering at were far too white; everyone understood that.
